Here at RPM, our mission is Innovation and excellence through inspiration and passion. We like to take a problem and solve it.
Our dedicated team of Design Engineers and Tool Makers have the knowledge and experience of many different projects. That skill and knowledge has been applied to our very first product which is currently on its way to market.
The RPM Plumbers Plug – Leak Testing

The RPM Plumbers Plug is a plastic moulded component used for leak testing. Designed for use at the first fix stage of a property development and with new design layouts for any water pipes in bathrooms, kitchens, cylinder fits and so on.
The conventional method is to use a blanked fitting like a barrel cap blank or similar, with thread tape, fitted with a spanner, Allen key or other appropriate tool.
The Plumbers Plug does away with the need for all of this equipment. It can be fitted by hand in a few seconds and is very easy to use. It has a rubber seal and so does not need thread tape. The Plumbers Plug can remain in position until completion of the first fix/rough in, including during the plastering process.
Features
The plug can be cut off at the shoulder to allow flush plastering.
The cut off section of the plug is still useful. Its internal shape matches the outside shape of the plugging section and so can be used as an extraction tool for removing this section when you are ready to do so, but is reusable with or without the extraction handle part.
The Plug features an internal Philips head screwdriver slot, also suitable for a flat headed screwdriver for removal.
The plugs are brightly coloured as a visual aid and have a smooth finish for comfort of handling and a ribbed barrel to ensure a comfortable grip.
Being able to see them clearly helps with the retrieval of the plugs at the end of the rough in process. A notoriously difficult achievement with the more expensive Brass caps currently used. However if the Plumbers plug is lost, then this is no great loss. The plugs are designed to be semi disposable with their replacement cost low and insignificant. Available in packs of 10 pieces, there is always the chance that you will have a spare.
The plugs are available in two sizes 15mm and 20 mm thread options and will be available in stores around the country in the near future.
Further products for the plumbing industry are also in the design pipeline, so watch this space for new and innovative ideas coming soon.
